The Penola Lodge Installation was held on Thursday 26th August and was attended by
the W Master Gary Holzer and 8 Members from Earl of Zetland and wives.
They held it in the RSL Hall, their new home as the CWA Hall previously used for their
Regular Meetings remains in a state of disrepair.
Of the Members attending Graham Earnshaw and David Stryker were part of the Grand
Lodge team, and Paddy O’Rourke was accepted into their Lodge as a “Remote
Member”, but not so remote that they invested him as their Inner Guard.
The evening was well attended overall with RW Bro Max Murray the Installing Master,
who Installed W Bro David Clarkson as Master of the Lodge.
The Dinner which followed at Pipers Restaurant was enjoyed by the 60 attending who
included local dignitaries and prospective Members.
This town is going to be in the spotlight in coming years with the Mary McKillop factor
being part of their heritage. Much of the damage caused by the tornado is well on the
way to being repaired, and the Lodge has begun its re-growth with a positive
Membership drive.
Earl of Zetland are making a positive contribution to this program, both personally and
financially, and your executive has agreed to continue this support. At Meeting where
there is a degree working, Earl of Zetland covers the cost of accommodation of four
Members to attend, and also covers the cost of fuel.
Penola advise the Officers chairs, or ritual where they require assistance, and Earl of
Zetland Current officers are asked as a priority, followed by suitably qualified members
to assist in these visits. Should any member be interested in this project and has not
been asked to participate, please contact the Secretary.
Members are also reminded that in March each year there is an Official Visit. This is a
combined working and it is planned to be a Second Degree working in 2011.
Their Regular Meetings are held on the 4th Tuesday of the odd months. Their Meeting in
September is being held on Friday 17th at 6.30pm, supported by the Young Freemasons
network, with a YFN Candidate, supporting Officers and Members from this
organization. It will be a milestone for Freemasonry in the South East.
